One late night a car pulled up and threw a dark bag over the goat corral and out popped Mr. Fancy Shoes, a gorgeous Cochin rooster, the colors of a Serengeti sunset.  His abrupt arrival could have meant near-death for any other critter, as the goats are mean-tempered. However, his flirty crowing and beautiful glossy feathers proved to be a bewitching tonic.

To us, he is a total comedian.  Given the plumbs around his lower legs, he doesn’t walk–he waddles—making him look more like a sumo wrestler than the exotic creature that landed amongst the goats. For all these reasons, you can’t keep your eyes off him. Nor can you keep your eyes off the goats, who are smitten.  They protect him and share their meals with him. Who would have thought these head-strong angry goats could have been calmed by a rooster? Maybe John was right, all you need is love.
