About the artist
SARAH HOWARD JOOST“Scholars frown on applying human traits to animals. Not us! Anthropomorphizing is EXACTLY what we do at Tails + Tales. Using story and metaphors to describe your pet’s personality is not only a blast, it helps us all connect.”

About The Artist
Inspiring Magic
Tails + Tales began as a passion project when mixed media specialist and animal devotee, Sarah Howard Joost began creating one-of-a-kind- art pieces honoring the loving creatures she encountered while walking her Frenchie, Cody in her neighborhood, Golden Gate Park, Ocean Beach, Crissy Field and on adventures throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
She’s known for bold, vibrant ideas brought to life with inspired dedication and inventive artistic process. Her collaborative spirit drives her to connect and build community. The stories echo the sometimes funny, sometimes passionate relationship between pet and owner.
She has studied with Michael Cutlip, Lisa Hochstein and Amy Diaz-Infante. Her collage and assemblage work has shown across the country.
The energy and love that goes into each project is a reflection of the animal’s spirit. “Critters bring us to a different space,” she explains. “It’s different for everyone. When you connect with that owner and get to know their special kinship with their pet, the process sings. From there, you can trust result will be magic.”
Every pet has a story and we are on a mission to help ensure every pet's story is a LOVE STORY.
We donate a portion of proceeds from each order to animal rescue organizations
We believe the work of organizations such as Dogwood Animal Rescue Project, Muttville, humane societies, and wildlife rescue teams are doing some of the most important work on the planet. And, for those of us who can’t be there when they liberate a puppy mill, shelter an abused animal, or trap/neuter/release, we can try and help financially. That’s why proceeds from each Tails + Tales Art piece goes to selected programs. Thanks for helping us help them! Since inception, we’ve raised funds for:
