Bonjour, Beau

Aside from protecting my Emilie from all the evils that surround the Marina Greens, I have a few more jobs.

1)  First off, I like to cuddle.  I know, it does not bode well for my reputation. Ce la vi, I am French.

2)  There’s waaaaay too much grass here in the Marina.  My intention is to keep it trimmed and neat.  You see that lawn-mower guy you tell him I want payment, comprendre?

3)  My favorite game is to use the magnets in my eyes to draw in the two-leggers.  I can tell from afar whom I can lure into my trap.  I wait till they get closer.  I stay still, all the while I am pulling and pulling them to me.  They speak to my Emilie, and, as they bend down **BOOM** I pull away.  Ho ho ho, so fun, mort de rire!

4)  This last job, you must share with no one.  I am part of a secret band of dogs who guard the Golden Gate Bridge. Just like the two-legged heroes who work in the background to keep our country safe, we too, play a crucial role.  We watch. We report all suspicions by sniffing other passing soldates. They report to the commanding mutt of the coast guard station who can bark like a siren.  It is hard, but the day I was recruited, I did not hesitate.  Anything to keep mon cher l’amour de ma vie Emilie safe from harm.

Au revoir!  Stay vigilant,

Beau

About the piece:

The shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge looms large on Beau’s mind.  Images are transferred on top of each other with details outlined with oil pastel sticks.  And what bad boy goes without a gold earring?
